Description
HCG 5000IU: laboratory research in the UK
Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) is a glycoprotein hormone supplied exclusively for laboratory and in vitro research.
HCG and LHCGR signalling
HCG is studied in endocrine research because it interacts with the luteinising-hormone/chorionic-gonadotropin receptor (LHCGR). Sharing a receptor does not mean two hormones produce identical cellular responses.
In a 2012 cell-based study, Casarini and colleagues compared LH and HCG in receptor-expressing cell lines and primary human granulosa cells. They observed differences in cAMP, ERK1/2 and AKT signalling. The findings provide context for receptor-signalling research; they do not verify this product or its current batch.
Read the original LHCGR signalling study (PLOS ONE, 2012).
Published investigations remain experimental and do not establish suitability, safety or effectiveness for human or veterinary use.
HCG 5000IU documentation
View the HCG 5000IU analytical summary in our product-documentation library. It summarises supplier-provided evidence and is not the originating laboratory certificate or confirmation of every current stock batch.
Check the sample, source, strength and analysis date against the material you are considering. For help matching a batch, request HCG documentation and include the batch reference if you have one. Our COA reading guide explains what to check.

HCG 5000IU: research FAQs
What does 5000IU mean?
IU means International Units, a measure of biological activity relative to a reference standard. It is not the same as milligrams or millilitres. The listed presentation should be read alongside the relevant analytical documentation, including the assay and its reported units. See NIBSC’s explanation of biological standardisation for background.
Does a purity percentage confirm biological activity?
Not by itself. A reported purity result and a biological-activity result answer different questions. Read each result with its method and units, rather than treating one percentage as a complete description of the material.
Is HCG supplied from the UK?
Alpha Peptides® is a UK-based supplier with UK-only delivery. Check the shipping information and the availability shown above before ordering.
